The second annual LINA Open Call is now receiving applications.
LINA stands for Learning, Interacting and Networking in Architecture. It is a European platform made up of a network of 32 institutions – including the Irish Architecture Foundation – working at the intersection of architecture and other fields related to spatial culture. We work to promote emerging thinkers and practitioners. Our collective goal is to steer design and building processes towards regenerative practices and principles of de-growth.
Our alliance of museums, universities, research networks, foundations, triennials, biennials, and other European and Mediterranean organisations – known as LINA members – carries out a series of events taking place all over Europe.
Through the annual LINA Open Call, 25 applicants (individuals or teams) will be selected to become LINA fellows and invited to present at the LINA Conference in Copenhagen on 9–10 October. Fellows and other applicants through the Open Call may be selected by member organisations to co-create the LINA Architecture Programme, a diverse and exciting series of events across Europe.
LINA is coordinated by the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana and co-funded by Creative Europe.
We are looking for innovative individuals and collectives who apply their theoretical and practical knowledge to better our common future. We’re searching for innovators who develop spatial practices that question the status quo. We want to welcome new and emerging voices to make their mark and help amplify their radical ideas.
We are looking to give a platform to those who have not yet broken through to the international audience and are not yet established in their respective fields. Age is not a limit; however, only Creative Europe country residents are eligible to participate.
We are looking for those who wish to participate in mentoring, teaching, residencies, research, writing, and who want to present their work and develop meaningful programmes. Though travel is not always a necessity, we are looking for those interested in international collaboration. We want to promote people who care for the future of our planet and who share our ethical values.
There is no participation fee for the Open Call. One representative of each of the 25 selected LINA fellows (which can be teams or individuals) will be provided accommodation and reimbursed for their travel (up to €350) to attend the LINA Conference in Copenhagen on 9–10 October.
After that, work within the LINA Architecture Programme is regulated through contracts LINA fellows sign with LINA member organisations. Fellows and members will be supported by the LINA team throughout the process. Contracts cover honorariums and expenses and define the amount of work to be undertaken by LINA fellows.
The Writing Award recipients and Summer School leaders will be selected through the central LINA Open Call process, so it is important to apply through the Open Call if you wish to work with us. We will prioritise applicants based in European countries other than Ireland as LINA is designed to promote networking, knowledge and innovation exchange, and collaboration across Europe.
Irish applicants are encouraged to select member organisations and activities in other countries.
All documentation and application forms are available on the LINA website, and the central LINA team is available at firstname.lastname@example.org for any questions you might have.
Please read all documentation and the FAQ on the LINA website before applying.
