London School of Economics by O’Donnell & Tuomey shortlisted to the 2014 Stirling Prize

London School of Economics – Saw Swee Hock Student Centre by O’Donnell & Tuomey Architects was one of the six buildings shortlisted to RIBA 2014 Stirling Prize.

RIBA stated that “In the midst of a complex mediaeval London street pattern O’Donnell and Tuomey have woven a little of their magic. This remarkable project is an object lesson in mobilising the limitations of a site into a startlingly original building which makes a massive contribution to its townscape.”

The other nominees are:

Library of Birmingham by Mecanoo

Everyman Theatre, Liverpool by Haworth Tompkins

London Aquatics Centre by Zaha Hadid Architects

London Bridge Tower (The Shard) by Renzo Piano Building Workshop

Manchester School of Art by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios
