Jeanne Gang, Studio Gang Architects

The Irish Architecture Foundation and Arup came together in a partnership initiative called NEWNOWNEXT to present a series of 12 architectural talks over three years, all free to the public, to shine a spotlight on great architecture from around the world and here at home. Here is a lecture by Jeanne Gang from Studio Gang Chicago, who spoke at The Innovation Academy, Dublin on the 22nd of May 2013.

Jeanne Gang is founder and principal of Studio Gang Architects, a Chicago-based collective. Through her practice, Jeanne seeks to respond to and reframe questions that lie locally (site, culture, people) and resound globally (density, climate, sustainability).

Her recent projects include the 82-story Aqua Tower, the 2009 Emporis Skyscraper of the Year; the design of Northerly Island Park, a 91-acre former airfield on Chicago’s lakefront that is now under construction; the Solar Carve Tower, a commercial high-rise that abuts the High Line park in Manhattan; and the Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Her work with Studio Gang has been published and exhibited widely, most notably at the Venice Architecture Biennale, MoMA and the Art Institute of Chicago.
