Tatiana Bilbao

The Irish Architecture Foundation and Arup came together in a partnership initiative called NEWNOWNEXT to present a series of 12 architectural talks over three years, all free to the public, to shine a spotlight on great architecture from around the world and here at home. Here is the second lecture by Tatiana Bilbao who spoke at The Samuel Beckett Theatre, Dublin on the 18th of June 2013.

Tatiana Bilbao, graduated from Architecture andUrbanism at Universidad Iberoamericana in 1996. She was advisor for Urban Projects at the Urban Housing and Development Department of Mexico City in 1998-99. In 2004 she set up Tatiana Bilbao S.C. with projects in China and Europe and Mexico. Later she co-founded mxdf an urban research center on the production of space, its occupation, defense, and control in Mexico City.

Projects in Mexico include the Botanical Garden Culiacan; Universe House designed with Gabriel Orozco, Puerto Escondido; Parque Biotecnologico, Culiacan; Centro de Artes Escenicas, Guadalajara; and Jinhua Architecture Park in Jinhua, China. Bilbao was named the Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard in 2007. Her work has been published in A+U, Domus, and The New York Times, among others.
