Founder and Creative Director of the architectural practice Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter, Dorte Mandrup was invited to exhibit at the main exhibition of the Biennale Architettura 2018. The following year she chaired the jury of the prestigious Mies van der​ ​​Rohe Award.

Mandrup​ ​​specializes in landmark projects crossing geography, function and scale. Several UNESCO related cultural​ ​projects underline an expertise in successfully anchoring buildings to unique sites and conveying a rich​ ​cultural history. Her work has received international acclaim with a portfolio of work including the World​ ​Heritage Projects which includes Wadden Sea Center in Ribe, Denmark, the Icefjord Center, Greenland, the​ ​Trilateral Wadden Sea World Heritage Centre in Wilhemshaven, Germany and the Wadden Sea World​ ​Heritage Centre, Groningen.

Tatiana speaks about how landscape plays a crucial role in her work, and highlights the Ruta del Peregrino, a project to create architectural interventions along a 72-mile pilgrimage route in Jalisco, on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Bilbao invited big names, from artist Ai Weiwei to Chilean architecture practice Elemental, to design different sections of the route.

In 2016 we were delighted to kick off our series at the Royal Irish Academy with a talk titled “The Physics of Culture” given by Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell of Grafton Architects. Two years later they co-curated the 16th edition of La Biennale di Venezia, under the theme FREESPACE. This year alone their work has received some of architecture’s highest honours, including the 2020 RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture, and the 2020 Pritzker Prize.
