A popular most frequently watched lecture and one of the first New Now Next talks we recorded in 2013, listen to Tatiana Bilbao present in the Samuel Beckett Theatre, as she interprets her home country’s historical culture and building traditions.

Tatiana speaks about how landscape plays a crucial role in her work, and highlights the Ruta del Peregrino, a project to create architectural interventions along a 72-mile pilgrimage route in Jalisco, on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Bilbao invited big names, from artist Ai Weiwei to Chilean architecture practice Elemental, to design different sections of the route.

Jeanne Gang was named 2019’s most influential architect by Time Magazine, so if you missed Jeanne’s incredible talk with the IAF in 2013, ‘Reclaiming the Edge’, you can watch it again here. Jeanne was the inaugural New Now Next speaker, curated by IAF and sponsored by ARUP, a partnership still going strong 7 years later.

In 2016 we were delighted to kick off our series at the Royal Irish Academy with a talk titled “The Physics of Culture” given by Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell of Grafton Architects. Two years later they co-curated the 16th edition of La Biennale di Venezia, under the theme FREESPACE. This year alone their work has received some of architecture’s highest honours, including the 2020 RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture, and the 2020 Pritzker Prize.

New Now Next is curated by the IAF, sponsored by ARUP and supported by the Royal Irish Academy.
