The Play Park, Ballyfermot

14.02.19

The Play Park is a project funded by DCC to design and build a brand new play, skate and BMX park in Ballyfermot.

With a budget of 1.8 million it is one of the biggest investments in play space in the history of the state. The IAF devised and delivered a significant community engagement process in 2015, funded by the Matheson Foundation, which led to the community writing the brief for an international design competition, won by London practice Relational Urbanism. With a construction team almost in place, the park will break ground in summer 2019.

As construction takes place, Ballyfermot’s community will continue to be involved through a breaking ground ceremony, site tours, planting and seedbombing and a co-design project where young people will collaborate with Relational Urbanism on the design of the park’s entrance gate.
