Architecture Republic presents the book launch of i.e Patterns of Thought on Tuesday 12th June and the accompanying sound installation exhibition by Ivan Birthistle that will run from Tuesday until Thursday 14th June. The Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn, will open the launch.
The book, compiled and edited by Ellen Rowley with Maxim Laroussi, presents a miscellany of writing and reflections on the subject of (Irish) architecture and spatial practices by (Irish) thinkers such as Sean O Faolain, Dorothy Walker, Seamus Heaney, Grafton Architects, Fintan O’Toole, Raymund Ryan, Eddie McParland, Dominic Stevens and Paul Kearns.
Dating from the 1940s up to the present, the 28 pieces come out of lectures, catalogue essays, journalism, architectural polemics and quirky histories. Mostly, they are already “made”, and are being pulled back out, dusted off and gathered here like a string of novellas, to be read by a new generation.
The launch will take place on Tuesday 12th June at 6pm at the City Assembly House, 58 South William Street, Dublin 2. Light refreshments will be served.
