Dictionary of Irish Architects

21.07.15

Irish Architectural Archive have made The Dictionary of Irish Architects available online. The online resource contains biographical and bibliographical information on architects, builders and craftsmen born or working in Ireland during the period 1720 to 1940, and information on the buildings on which they worked. This biographical index of architects, builders and craftsmen was created and compiled by Ann Martha Rowan of the Irish Architectural Archive.

The Catalogue is a work in progress. While added to on a daily basis, it contains information on only a section of the Archive’s holdings. In addition, other finding aids such as individual collection lists are accessible only in the Archive reading room.

The Catalogue provides information on material held by the Archive. The material itself may be consulted in the Archive’s Reading Room at 45 Merrion Square, Dublin 2. The Reading Room is open to the public from 10am to 5pm, Tuesdays to Fridays.

The ‘Catalogue Online’ project was supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Heritage Council.
