Now in its fifth year, the IAF’s National Architects in Schools Initiative places architects and architectural graduates in 30 schools across the country to guide 14-16 year old students through a hands-on design process. They learn about how to research, design and communicate architectural ideas through workshops, excursions, drawing, modelmaking, film, photography and more, always reimagining the spaces around them and sometimes even affecting change in their school environments. This year’s projects, taking place in 16 counties around Ireland, will be exhibited in Waterford city’s new public space, the Apple Market, from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 May. This exhibition is part of Waterford Festival of Architecture, presenting talks and events all over the city that explore architecture and design.
