Art and architecture have an inherent influence on each other. Art is now a vital form of architectural discourse. Many contemporary artists are interested in architecture on many levels, sometimes taking it as a critical subject matter of their work.

Dublin Art Book Fair 2017, sponsored by Henry J Lyons, themes its programme on Art and Architecture. Interweaving these distinct disciplines to engage diverse publics – those interested in contemporary art, architecture, books, design, film, the city and its material histories, as well as the generally curious. The focus will be on the interdisciplinary aspects of Art and Architecture, their contingencies and overlaps, as well as their explicitly divergent natures.

Central are the books – platforming publications, catalogues, journals, zines – featuring art, design, architecture and related books, as well as architects’ and artists’ books. To develop our selection of books, we have invited an extensive list of architects and artists to recommend books and publications inspiring to their practice.

A curated programme of talks, tours, workshops, an artist commission and a film screening is planned for TBG+S’s gallery and beyond to offer a dynamic, innovative programme, with a friendly and intimate atmosphere to deeply engage people with architecture through the portal of art.
