Taking Liberties is an exhibition of photographs by local photographer Shane McCarthy, who, for four months in early 2012, has walked the streets of the Liberties, visited sports and dance clubs, and places of study and work and play, to capture the wonderful character of the people and places of the area, in a Liberties Festival commission.

Taking Liberties runs throughout the Festival in Gallery Zozimus on Francis Street, opening on Wednesday, July 18th at 6pm – 8pm.

Shane McCarthy began his career almost 30 years ago, assisting fashion photographer Ursula Steiger in her studio in South Earl Street, and now works from his studio in Lad Lane, specialising in portraiture, fashion and commercial photography.
