Heneghan Peng chosen for Ireland at Venice Pavilion

05.07.12

Irish architects Heneghan Peng have been selected to represent Ireland at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition as part of la Biennale di Venezia this summer. It was announced by Minister for the Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan TD.

The exhibition in Venice, titled “Shifting Ground” is one of 55 national pavilions and represents Ireland to thousands as one of the most important architectural showcases in the world. At the heart of the exhibit, led for Ireland by Commissioner, Elizabeth Francis with Curator, John McLaughlin, is the idea that contemporary Irish architecture has a global identity, is involved in transnational collaborations and a reputation for world-class work.

Four Irish firms, Heneghan Peng, Grafton Architects, O’ Donnell + Tuomey and Clancy Moore Architects will represent three generations of work coming out of Ireland making this one the most extensive reach of Ireland’s architects to feature in the Biennale.

The 13th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia opens to the public on 29th Aug and continues until the 25th November.
