Announcement IAF Board

We are seeking a Chairperson

Deadline extension – 26 March 2019

We are seeking a new Chair who can provide the IAF with inspiring and energising leadership, and who will help us develop strategically and spread our influence.

Our new Chair will understand our sector, (both architectural sector and non for profit arts sector) its culture, people and processes.

This is a high profile position, within a vibrant agency that plays a significant role in Ireland’s cultural sector.

We have just launched a Strategic Development Plan 2019-2023 with a renewed mission and purpose. The next five years will present us with significant opportunities to communicate the vital issues and topics that engross the overall ethos and unique personality of IAF. We will use this strategy to guide our programme choices, to ensure that we continue to reach more diverse audiences and to communicate ‘who we are’ with clarity, courage and pride.

Established in 2005, the IAF is an independent organisation, with a National and International remit, dedicated to the exploration of architecture as culture. We are a focal point for the many people and organisations that wish to champion the power of architecture to transform lives and improve the places where we live.

In a few short years, we have situated architecture firmly within the cultural context, disseminated it through Open House Dublin, inspired young minds through our schools programme, encouraged people to think differently about their cities and towns by creating talks and debates, communicated architecture by curating national and international exhibitions, and enhanced the practice of architecture through mutually beneficial exchanges between architects and the public.

The key responsibilities of the Chairperson are Strategic Leadership, Governance, External Relations and Development.  The IAF is a positive force and a great family, to which we welcome new ideas, funders and collaborators, with whom we can seek opportunities for influencing public engagement with architecture and the built environment.
