Open House Dublin 2020

We delivered our first ever Open House Dublin soon after the IAF was inaugurated, so 2020 also marks the 15th birthday of Ireland's largest architecture festival.

Open House Dublin (OHD) is Ireland’s largest architecture festival, inviting everyone to explore Dublin city. It works through a simple but powerful idea: showcasing outstanding architecture for everyone to experience. Buildings that aren’t usually accessible to the public and buildings of architectural merit open their doors for one weekend, with architectural tours provided by expert guides. All OHD tours are completely FREE!

Halfway through our second decade we have seen growth to over 30,000 visits to architecture by the general public.

To celebrate this and to continue the legacy of Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara’s incredible achievement when they curated the 16th International Architecture Exhibition at Venice, we have received their permission to title our celebratory edition of Open House Dublin The Earth As Client, a phrase they coined within their Manifesto for the biennale about an urgent and collective need for architecture to lead on creating new ideas for a sustainable future. We will use this theme to generate a programme of tours, walks, exhibitions and discussions for the Open House Dublin weekend on the 16-18 October.
