The sixth cycle of the National Architects in Schools Initiative is well underway, with work taking place in 32 schools nationally. Architects and teachers are collaborating to devise and deliver hands-on design projects for Transition Year students in Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Tipperary, Kildare, Wicklow, Dublin, Meath and Louth. The programme offers students insight from a professional into a potential career path and develops both tangible and intangible skills: drawing, modelmaking, film, photography, mapping, presentation skills, debating skills, problem-solving skills and more. Above all, it instills and rewards creativity and curiosity in our surroundings.

Meanwhile, the IAF has engaged behavioural change agency Real Nation to review the National Architects in Schools Initiative in terms of content, delivery and sustainability and make recommendations as to how to improve, change or expand the programme from 2019/20 onwards.
