From 31 January to 2 February 2018, the 3rd Open House Worldwide international conference, to be held in London, UK, will explore the theme of ‘Shaping our Cities for the Future’. Over 3 days it will bring together 200 world-leading experts and built environment professionals exploring and highlighting how public engagement and active citizenship combined with architecture and urban design strategies can create more liveable, inclusive and sustainable cities for the future.
A conference highlight will be presentations and a panel discussion between international policymakers including Mayors, Deputy Mayors and City Architects from cities London, Stockholm, Vienna, Brisbane and Dublin, exploring how to ‘make cities for citizens’. Other contributions from Dr Suzanne Hall, Director, Cities Programme, LSE Alastair Parvin, Co-founder, WikiHouse Foundation, David Burney, Board Chairman, Center for Active Design, New York, Riccardo Marini, Principal, Marini Urbanismo.

The conference will bring together approximately 200 international member city representatives, cultural agencies, built environment professionals, researchers and Open House Cities directors, to explore these key issues and the place of Open House as a unique means of civic engagement within this. The Irish Architecture Foundation will attend to represent Open House Dublin, while one of the speakers at the event will be Ali Grehan, Dublin City Architect and IAF board member.
