On the 11th of December in the Irish Film Institute (IFI), SET will be launching their fourth issue with a screening of its subject, Sunset Boulevard (1950). Alice Butler writes about Billy Wilder’s film; discussing screenwriter Joe Gillis’ experience of faded silent film star Norma Desmond’s eerie mansion, she considers how the setting is used as much to explore Norma’s haunted mind as to reflect on cinema itself as construction.
