“Our approach was to first design a ‘natural’ landscape of hills, dips and clearings into which we placed a simple, timber outdoor classroom. The structure will be built from native Irish douglas fir and larch on a lightweight timber substructure. The landscape follows the existing slope of the site but two new hills will be created to enclose an outdoor amphitheater for play and performances. Other landscape features, which will be added in phases, will include a pond, willow maze, orchard and horticulture garden.”
