Open House Dublin 100 great buildings, from the obvious to the overlooked 2013

29.09.13

Thank you to everyone who took part in Open House Dublin 2013!

Open House Dublin has firmly established itself as Ireland’s biggest architecture festival since it was launched by the Irish Architecture Foundation, in 2006.

100 great buildings of architectural quality and interest – many of which are not usually accessible to the public – opened their doors and allowed the public to experience architecture up close and in all its dimensions. The feedback from the public and the media has been overwhelmingly positive, as seen from our Audience Survey as well as in the kind words from our fans and followers online.

The success and popularity of Open House Dublin would not be possible without our wonderful building owners, volunteers and guides, who by opening their doors, sharing their knowledge and giving their free time have generously allowed people to enjoy the delights of the “100 Great Buildings”. Thank you to all those participants who made a much-valued contribution to the eighth annual Open House Dublin.

Open House is a simple concept – it gives buildings a voice to elucidate the passion and ideas behind the facade.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural Open House Dublin (OHD) photography competition, our architecture and photography enthusiasts will be pleased that its up and running again in 2013. This year the focus of the competition is the buildings that are featured in the OHD 2013 programme, on the theme “100 great buildings, from the obvious to the overlooked.” More information HERE.

Open House Junior 2013 provided hundreds of opportunities for budding architects to get involved in hands-on design workshops, thanks to continued partnerships with Dublin’s museums and art galleries. The ever-popular Architrek tours brought families out onto the streets, exploring the buildings and spaces of Dublin and Dún Laoghaire.

We are currently conducting an audience survey in order for us to create an even more successful Open House Dublin 2014! Please take a moment to fill our very short survey HERE, we appreciate all your feed back!
