LINA Writing Award 2025/26

04.06.25

The IAF and dpr-barcelona invite proposals for the fourth LINA Writing Award.

The Irish Architecture Foundation (Ireland) and dpr-barcelona (Spain) wish to commission one emerging writer in architecture for the fourth LINA Writing Award. This collaboration aims to support new voices that contribute meaningfully to architectural thinking and discourse. The selected writer will join a collaborative and dynamic editorial process, working closely with editors, designers, copy-writers and publishers to develop and publish their project within the LINA programme. The focus will be on creating work that is not only well crafted, but also acts as a catalyst for public dialogue and engagement.

Prospective applicants should refer to the residency requirements outlined below.

About the LINA Writing Award

This award offers a fee of  €3,000 (inclusive of taxes), in addition to mentoring support and the opportunity to publish new work of 12,000-15,000 words.

Writing proposals can include new narratives, stories, textual explorations, fiction, or experimental writing. There is less emphasis on academic texts.

We are looking for writers with creativity and vision, excellent English writing skills, and at least three examples of written work (online or in print).

Applications from emerging writers are especially welcome.

About LINA

LINA, the European architecture platform, is a community of people working towards a united creative vision – we find common ground in our inclusive values. The network is a creative flow of co-creation, collaboration, and mentoring, both among member organisations and in tandem with emerging creatives. Being part of LINA means being part of an experience in which we create and curate relationships, and bring people together with plan and ambition.

As a network of organisations we work at the intersection of architecture and other fields related to spatial culture, and as a platform, we support and promote emerging thinkers and practitioners. Our collective goal is to steer design and building processes towards regenerative practices and principles of de-growth.

A growing network of museums, universities, research networks, foundations, triennials, biennials, and other European and Mediterranean organisations — LINA members — carries out a series of events taking place all over Europe. The programme is coordinated by the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana and co-funded by Creative Europe.

A number of collective LINA events will take place in 2025 and 2026, not specific to this Writing Award:
