2021 Programme

Happy holidays, and highlights of the year!

20.12.21

As we look back on what we’ve accomplished in 2021, we’d like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has made it possible and whose support will enable us to do even more in 2022. We’re excited about shaping the future with you and we wish all our readers a healthy and happy holiday season!

Each year we expand our reach, impact and potential. In 2021 we produced unique opportunities for people to understand and shape their environment. We learnt so much and have been inspired by everyone who has participated and engaged in our programme.

This year we launched several new nationwide and international initiatives; formed new partnerships with The Housing Agency, the National Museum of Ireland, Open House Worldwide, New European Bauhaus, and Tallinn Architecture Biennale; and won two awards, from the Thornton Education Trust in London and the Better Cities Film Festival in Detroit.

We championed and promoted engagement with architecture in mainstream media through the dissemination of our original Site Specific film series to 800,000+ viewers on TV, digital media and world festivals.

We produced a new Audience Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, which will feed our programming, events, communications, and recruitment processes. Ours is an audience-centred approach.

We are continuing to build our capacity as an organisation, in pursuit of our ambitious mission to empower the public through architecture. Read our December newsletter and Open House Dublin 2021 Report for further details of our activities and impact this year.

Thank you to all our funders, Friends, sponsors, and partners – we couldn’t do it without you!

As an ambitious not-for-profit, we rely on state funding, fundraising and Friends to enable us to deliver the programmes you enjoy and pursue our vision for a future where architecture is a civic right, a confident expression of who we are as a society and who we might become.

Our Friends are at the heart of what we do, and by joining the IAF as a Friend you’ll ensure that we can continue to grow and create more innovative and exciting events that inspire people to understand and shape their world. Help us keep architecture at the forefront of Ireland’s cultural landscape, and enjoy a few perks along the way – support the IAF by joining as a Friend or giving the gift of IAF Friendship this Christmas!

We will also be seeking new Board members and opening up further opportunities to get involved with the IAF very soon. Happy holidays – and watch this space!
