Tara Kennedy has been awarded the Arts Council Artist in the Community Scheme Bursary Award 2015: Collaborative Arts and Architecture.
The purpose of the €10,000 Arts Council Bursary Award is to support and nurture professional arts practice and it is specifically aimed at an architect / arts practitioner who has a track record of working collaboratively.
Tara has proposed to use the Bursary to reflect on her practice in this area and consider key questions associated with creating architecture using collaborative methodologies. Kennedy is particularly interested in investigating the question of as she puts it, ‘the way that we practice in the context of an engaged and collaborative reading of architecture’. During an initial research phase, she will also explore researching and demonstrating ways of working that address barriers and limitations to collaborative approaches to architecture within communities and within the architecture profession.
Create in partnership with Irish Architecture Foundation managed the award and promoted it by hosting two information and discussion events in THE LAB, Dublin and the National Sculpture Factory, Cork.
It is expected that Tara Kennedy will share the learning arising from the Bursary with the wider architectural community and collaborative arts sector.
