Calling all Architects and Architectural Graduates – applications are now open!
The Irish Architecture Foundation invites applications from architects and architectural graduates to participate in the 2022/23 Architects in Schools programme. Starting in September 2022, it is a great opportunity to share your knowledge of architecture with young people in a fun and engaging way.
APPLY by Friday 29 July, 6pm
If you have good communication skills and are looking for exciting ways to expand your practice, we would love to hear from you!
You will work directly with Transition Year students in their school, supporting them as they learn how to explore, research, design and communicate their ideas about architecture and the built environment. You will also collaborate with students and teachers to select work for the annual Architects in Schools exhibition in May 2023.
The Architects in Schools programme is entering into its 10th cycle. It is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, the Department of Education and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. In 2021/22 the programme reached 70 schools nationwide (up from 28 in 2019/20). 41 dedicated architects delivered architecture workshops in a wide range of school types across Ireland.
How it works:
Assigned schools and programme options:
You may apply to work with up to 4 different schools.
There are two programme options. Architects can work across a combination of these options if working with multiple schools.
Programme A (Full):
20 hours work in total, per school (8 hours preparation, 12 hours workshop facilitation) for a fee of €1000 (incl. VAT), on a schedule agreed between you and your assigned school.
Programme B (Introductory):
4 hours work in total, per school (1 hour preparation, 3 hours workshop facilitation) for a fee of €200 (incl. VAT), on a schedule agreed between you and your assigned school.
29 July 2022 (6pm): Closing date for applications for architects / architectural graduates.
By 27 August 2022: Applicants will be contacted about the outcome of their application.
2022/23 Programme Delivery: School workshops will take place between September 2022 and March 2023. Dates, times and workshop duration will be arranged locally between the nominated teacher / TY coordinator and the architect.
2022/23 Annual Exhibition: The annual exhibition of student work will take place in May 2023. Architects will submit exhibition material (photos, text) to the IAF in March 2023.
