Our final instalment of NEWNOWNEXT 2014 took place in the Sugar Club on 10 September whenMinsuk Cho spoke to an audience 300 people.
Mass Studies was founded in 2003 by Minsuk Cho in Seoul, Korea, as a critical investigation of architecture in the context of mass production, intensely over-populated urban conditions, and other emergent cultural niches that define contemporary society.
He co-curated an exhibition titled “Named Design” with Anthony Fontenot for the Gwangju Design Biennale 2011, directed by Seung H-Sang and Ai Weiwei. Minsuk Cho is the Commissioner of the Korean Pavilion and winner of the Golden Lion for Best National Participation for “Crow’s Eye View: The Korean peninsula” at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale 2014.
Thank you to Andrew Griffin of Urban Agency who chaired the talk. Refreshments were provided by Tiger Beer.
NEWNOWNEXT is a series of public talks curated by the Irish Architecture Foundation in collaboration with Arup, revealing current and next generation ideas and architects from across the globe.
