To mark International Womens in Architecture Day, the RIAI have organised two lectures by renowned architect Grainne Shaffrey and architectural historian and RIAI Honorary Member Dr Ellen Rowley on the forthcoming Tenement Museum Dublin / An Músaem Tionántán.
The Tenement Museum Dublin is housed in a former tenement at No 14 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1 and will bring to life the story of the building and of its residents. Grainne Shaffrey and Ellen Rowley have been centrally involved in this landmark project – Grainne as architect and Ellen as curator. The museum will open to the public on 24thAugust with a 6-week performance by ANU Productions.
The format of the evening in the RIAI on Wednesday 12th July is as follows:
18.00 Welcome and drinks
18.30-19.30 Special preview of the Tenement Museum Dublin with illustrated talks by Grainne Shaffrey and Dr. Ellen Rowley
19.30 Women in Irish Architecture – short address from RIAI President
Until 20.30 Drinks and networking
In addition to the above we will have a special dramatic surprise on the night!
The event is free but booking is essential. This is an RIAI CPD Event with 1.5 CPD Structured Points.
