RIAI Annual Conference 2012

Booking has opened for the RIAI 2012 Annual Conference on Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th September.

The RIAI President has set the theme Architecture – An Ethical Practise: “Our complex role as a profession is to balance the concerns of the client, the end users and the general public. This role requires judgement and an understanding of responsibility. We walk a line that requires understanding from the parties to the contract to ensure success. Architecture has always been an ethical profession and it is time to reaffirm this crucial compass in these uncertain times. We must fully understand and embrace our role and all the potential that it brings for architects to make architecture that is in and of our society”. Michelle Fagan.

The conference has adopted three main themes: The Role of the Architect; Practice Models and Architecture of the Future; and Education of the Architect. Keynote Speakers are the internationally renowned architect David Chipperfield and Laura Lee. There will be a range of other speakers including Irish and international commentators, economists and architects.
