The Open House Worldwide Festival is the network’s first collaborative event – a non-stop 48 hour livestream, broadcast from the Open House Worldwide website, with contributions from six continents and more than forty cities from the network and beyond, including Dublin.

The IAF are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute two events to the Festival, and look forward to sharing the ‘Site Specific’ series of films (presented as part of this year’s Open House Dublin) with the global audience who will tune in for the Open House Worldwide Festival. The livestream of the films will begin at 8am on Sunday 15 November on the OHWW YouTube channel.

About Site Specific:
Site Specific is a special commission of ten short documentaries for Open House Dublin 2020. Dyehouse Films wonderfully reveal the personalities, processes, complexity, creativity and transformative impact that surround the act of designed space. The protagonists: the architect, the historian, the user, speak directly to the camera, they speak directly to us. Site Specific crosses the city, scales and building types from play parks, social housing, places of worship to a building not yet built. Hidden away in Trinity College, we explore a replica of a legendary Viennese watering hole. Shane deBlacam, known as the godfather of Irish architecture, takes us through the story of how this came to be.

5. Ballyfermot Play Park
The Irish Architecture Foundation facilitated an innovative and collaborative People First Design Process and an international design competition – the result – a new place to play, to skate, to run and to BMX!

6. Chapel Royal
Dr Myles Campbell takes us on a virtual tour of the Chapel Royal, Dublin Castle and reveals the history of this gothic revival masterpiece.

7. Temple Bar
Frank McDonald, author and architectural critic, former Irish Times Environment Correspondent. As a long-time resident of Temple Bar, Frank shares his personal relationship with a quarter of the city famed for its history, culture and controversy.

8. Rosemount Court
A unique insight to the design philosophy of Rosemount court social housing by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Council with architects Andrew Devonport and Sarah Clifford

9. Parnell Square
An ambitious redevelopment project is underway to transform Parnell Square into the cultural quarter of Dublin City with the provision of the new Dublin City Library by Pritzker Prize Architects Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell.

10. Aerial Tour
Looking down at the city from above, Architect Niall McCullough talks us through the complex building maze of geometric shapes and lines that make up the fabric of Dublin city.
