We are in the midst of a housing crisis. Families are on the streets, rents are soaring and house prices are looking bubbly. Nimble Spaces together with Camphill Communities of Ireland, VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, Maynooth University Department of Geography and DIT School of Architecture are hosting a one day conference to explore other options for living.
There will be talks and panel discussions on a range of topics including participative design, spatial justice, social housing and co-housing. Speakers include Teddy Cruz (via Skype) (architect and activist, San Diego), Andrea Phillips (Goldsmiths University, London), Dougal Sheridan (LiD Architecture/University of Ulster), Aaron Koffman (Director of Affordable Housing, Hudson, New York), Cllr. Ciarán Cuffe (Urban Regeneration and Development Dept. DIT), Je Ahn, Studio Weave (architect, London), Ríonach Ní Néill (choreographer), Ali Grehan (Dublin City Architect) and many others. Participants will leave armed with new ways to imagine housing in the 21st century. It’s going to be a jam packed day!
VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art Carlow, Friday 1 May, 9.30am to 5pm.
