On Thursday 19 November we welcomed Japanese architect Akihisa Hirata to present the second of our live, virtual talks for our current series of New Now Next. Considered to be one of the most influential Japanese architects today, Akihisa is widely recognised for his multi-story “Tree-ness” house in Tokyo. Akihisa Hirata’s practice creates essential architecture by harnessing the laws of nature that govern the organic activities of plants, animals and meteorological phenomena. Akihisa was joined online by architect, writer and curator Pedro Gadanho, who moderated the event.
This event is part of New Now Next, our long-running international talks series, now in its eighth year, and sponsored by Arup.
The programme, curated and hosted by the Irish Architecture Foundation, will explore themes in 2020 and early 2021 that include justice, innovation and the environment through a series of inspirational virtual presentations by a fascinating line-up of world-renowned architects.
