Second in our current series of New Now Next talks, on Thursday 19 November, will be Japanese architect Akihisa Hirata, considered to be one of the most influential Japanese architects today and widely recognised for his multi-story “Tree-ness” house in Tokyo. Hirata’s practice creates essential architecture by harnessing the laws of nature that govern the organic activities of plants, animals and meteorological phenomena. Akihisa will be joined online by moderator Pedro Gadanho, architect, writer and curator.

Booking for this free event will open in early November.

This event is part of New Now Next, our long-running international talks series, now in its eighth year, and sponsored by Arup.

The programme, curated and hosted by the Irish Architecture Foundation, will explore themes in 2020 and early 2021 that include justice, innovation and the environment through a series of inspirational virtual presentations by a fascinating line-up of world-renowned architects.
