Ladies Wine & Design is an international salon series founded by New York-based art director Jessica Walsh, with a monthly spin-off here in Dublin. It brings together a small number of women working in the design industry to meet each other, hear what each other does, make friends, find collaborators and create a support network for women in the industry. On Thursday 8 February a small number of women can join us at IAF HQ to talk women in architecture over a glass of wine. In addition to learning more about the upcoming programme here at the IAF (delivered by an all-female team), attendees can also hear from our two guest speakers, Emma Geoghegan and Aoibheann Ní Mhearáin.

Emma Geoghegan is Acting Assistant Head of School and Programme Chair for Architecture at Dublin School of Architecture DIT. She teaches architectural design studio and professional practice, runs a module called Architecture, Collaboration & Society and is particularly interested in how people actually use and inhabit the buildings that architects design. From 2008-2017 she was a partner in MEME Architecture, an award winning collaborative design practice working in both UK and Ireland with a focus on community projects and social housing. She is also chairperson of Carlow Arts Festival and an advocate for creativity and design in making better places for people.

Aoibheann Ní Mhearáin is an architect whose practice encompasses design, teaching, research, exhibition and writing. Her research has focused on landscape and its representation as well as the history of modern architecture in Ireland. Her design practice is concerned with making buildings that are attuned to human occupation through the careful consideration of space, light and materials. She enjoys the process of working collaboratively across disciplines, and she has worked on a wide range and scale of projects both nationally and internationally, with award winning practices, Grafton Architects in Dublin and OMA in Rotterdam. Since 2009 Aoibheann has been working in Ireland, running her own practice anima and as associate director at John McLaughlin Architects. She holds a B.Arch from UCD and M.Arch from Princeton University and is a lecturer at the School of Architecture in UCD.
