The scheme involved an upgrade of the public realm in Monkstown in such a manner to compliment its historic setting. The scheme also included traffic management to alter and amalgamate a number of complex traffic movements and provide measures to improve the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users.

Ursula O’Higgins stated that ‘This project is a very important addition to the locality, which will greatly enhance Monkstown Village centre. The overall vision from DLRCC is to improve the village centre for the people of Monkstown by creating an environment that is a far more attractive and safer place in which to shop, visit, do business, and pass the time of day.’
