ILI Lecture: Father Collins Park- Ireland’s First Sustainable Park

Wednesday 30th April 2014 at 6.30pm
Goethe Institut, 37 Merrion Square, Dublin 2

Speaker: Maryann Harris, Past President ILI, Senior Executive Parks Superintendent, Dublin City Council

Maryann Harris will give an account of the design and development of Ireland’s first wholly sustainable park. The park is located in the heart of the ‘North Fringe’ – a newly developed area in northeast Dublin containing the new residential areas of Clongriffin and Belmayne. Opened in May 2009, Father Collins Park uses wind turbines to provide a renewable energy source, and features such facilities as a skate park, fitness trail, playgrounds, sports fields and ornamental lake. Designed by ArArq with Dublin City Council and MCO Projects, Fr. Collins Park has won a number of awards including the 2009 Irish Concrete Society Awards, and the 2010 RIAI Irish Architecture Award for Best Public Space.

The lecture is free and all are welcome. Please RSVP to ili@irishlandscapeinstitute.com to reserve your place.
