Agents of Architecture: Beatrice Galilee talk

24.05.12

The first instalment of our Agents of Architecture talks, Beatrice Galilee, the newly appointed Chief Curator for the 2013 Lisbon Architecture Triennale.

The 25 April saw the first instalment of our Agents of Architecture talks. Agents of Architecture is an ongoing series of national and international talks curated by the Irish Architecture Foundation in partnership with the Irish Museum of Modern Art, aimed at expanding the practice of architecture to include people who work with architecture either by curating it, or designing it, or redefining it, or questioning it.

Our first speaker, Beatrice Galilee, the newly appointed Chief Curator for the 2013 Lisbon Architecture Triennale, gave a fascinating and absorbing talk on the work she has done for the 2011 Gwangju Design Biennale in Korea and her work as the European curator of the 2009 Shenzhen Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism. She spoke of the work she had commissioned including sculptures, videos exploring urban movement through parkour and free-running, interactive exhibitions between members of the public and the creation of the WikiHouse, a CNC cut house that anyone can build. She is the co-founder and director of The Gopher Hole, an exhibition and event space in London, and spoke of her work and the vibrancy of the organisation.

We were very happy to have such an inspiring speaker open this series and look forward to our second talk by Zoe Ryan which will take place on Thursday 24 May.
