RIAI Transition Year Programme

25.01.18

The RIAI has developed a programme of activity you can undertake as part of a Transition Year architecture work placement. The guide is a framework for a one-week transition year student placement in an architect’s office. The intention is for these students to develop genuine skills in design development, research, presentation techniques and gain experience in a variety of industry applications. Working alongside their assigned mentor, the project is set out in 6 stages over a number of days, culminating in the presentation of the student’s work from concept to final design. The guide sets out the tasks for both mentor and student. If you are a student or architect preparing to engage in a work placement you can download the guide from the RIAI website. Are you a student interested in organising an architecture work placement? If so, search the RIAI website for an architect in your county and get in touch with them directly to see if they can take you on.
