Mies Van Der Rohe Awards 2015 Exhibition

O’Donell + Tuomey are having some year. They are among the five finalists for the 2015 EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture Mies Van Der Rohe Award to be announced 8 May. Other awards this year for the pair include the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize, Civic Trust Awards and the big one, RIBA Royal Gold Medal and it’s only April.

They have been selected for the Mies Van Der Rohe Award for their Swee Saw Hock Student Centre in London. Named after German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the biennial €60,000 award is the most prestigious accolade in European architecture and is awarded to the best building completed in the last two years by a European architect.

The exhibition of the awards is coming to Dublin and will open at Richview Memorial Hall UCD next Tuesday 28 April at 6pm. The exhibition will be welcomed to UCD by Giovanna Carnevali, Fundacio Mies Van Der Rohe, Barcelona, and officially opened by the UCD President Prof Andrew Deeks. UCD is the first venue for the Awards 2015 Exhibition and will be open to the public until 9 May 2015.

On May 7, the architects will present their projects to the jury. The winner will be announced the following day at a ceremony at Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion.
