ILI Lecture: Framing John McLaughlin

Architect John McLaughlin will give a presentation exploring connections between architecture and the wider landscape and built environment. John McLaughlin leads a studio of five people based in Dún Laoghaire Co. Dublin,  and lectures in architectural design at University College Cork. In 2015 John McLaughlin Architects was named Best Emerging Practice by the RIAI. Their work has received many awards and has been noted for its elegance, understatement and playfulness.

John has participated in a number of international exhibitions. He curated the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012, and co- curated/designed the Irish pavilion at the Venice international Architecture Biennale with Dr. Gary A. Boyd in 2014. In 2015, John designed a series of exhibitions for ID2015 (the Year of Irish Design)  He co-edited/authored Infrastructure and the Architectures of Modernity in Ireland 1916 to 2016 (with Dr Boyd)  published globally by Ashgate.
