30 years ago, the architect Alvaro Siza was invited to design four neighbourhoods in four European cities: Porto, The Hague, Berlin and Venice. These projects show a feature rare among the architects of the day: social housing. In 2016 filmmaker Cândida Pinto followed the Pritzker Prize winner as he revisited the districts he designed and met with their residents. He met families from Turkey, from Angola and refugees from Syria living in houses designed by him and he also witnessed the gentrification signalled by the young architects and designers looking for buildings by one of the most prominent architects in the world. These four documentaries were made for the Portuguese Pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale 2016.

Grab a ticket for the Beyond Participation 2 conference or one of our workshops (with The Glass-House Community Led Design or Studio Morison) and come along to these film screenings at 5.30pm on Friday 9 March in the Cube in Project Arts Centre!
